Preschool Program Overview Every class at Grace Episcopal Preschool is teamed with both a Lead Teacher and an Assistant Teacher. Our entire staff is committed to the welfare and education of our young students, and are screened by both local and federal law enforcement agencies. Teachers are required to submit weekly lesson plans, and adhere to developmentally-appropriate practices (DAP) in their daily activities. The maximum number of students in our 3- and 4-year old classes is 15. We limit our 2-1/2 year old class to 12 children. Our teachers are trained in and implement the multi-sensory Handwriting Without Tears curriculum in their classrooms. We also follow various aspects of the Early Literacy and Learning Model (ELLM), including daily read-alouds, oral language, letter and sound recognition, phonological awareness, print concepts, and written communication. Students learn early mathematical concepts such as patterns, comparisons, number recognition, rote counting, and more through Calendar Math. Each week, our students receive a 30-minute music and movement class taught by a certified music instructor. Our students also receive weekly Spanish and/or French foreign language instruction. Our little friends attend a special storytime monthly with our Preschool Director, and our new student library will open in 2007. Our students participate in a short Chapel service every week in our Church Sanctuary. Frequent special speakers and presentations allow our children to be exposed to the wonderful happenings in our community. Grace Episcopal Preschool |
